Walking Hours & Holidays

Walking Hours
We usually walk Clients Monday to Friday, from 9AM – 9PM. Services are available outside of these hours as availability allows.

Weekend Hours and Walks
Our Administrative Office is closed on the weekends, however weekend walks are available if reserved in advance. Please try to submit requests for weekend walks by Thursday or Friday afternoon (at the latest) so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

 

Holiday Dog Walking And Pet Sitting
Based on Availability and must be reserved in advance
*NOTE: Our Administrative Office will be closed, and there will be a $10 fee added to all Services scheduled on the following Holidays:

*We may opt to charge an additional fee for each daily Overnight Service during what we call “Holiday Periods,” which falls during our busiest time of the year: Thanksgiving Weekend (Fourth Thursday of November, and subsequent Friday, Saturday, & Sunday) and the two weeks surrounding Christmas & New Years (approximately December 20 to January 3rd).

We use a two hour pick-up window.

Due to the complexity of our schedules and the unique challenges of maneuvering through LA traffic, we reserve a two-hour window around the time of your scheduled walk. For example, if your pup is scheduled for a 2PM walk, you can expect your Walker will arrive sometime between 1PM and 3PM. This window helps us manage constantly varying schedules, bad weather, toweling dogs off after rainy days, varying travel times between clients, and unforeseen car or medical emergencies.

*NOTE: You will always see what time your Walker/Sitter arrived and departed via your Service Update.

Of course! 

We're obsessed with taking pictures of your pet! While on a dog walk, we'll always make sure we're in a safe location when taking pictures, and we'll send you the best shots after every visit, as well as a written update of how everything went. 

We do! 

We know how important your pet is, and the more you know the better! When your Walker/Sitter arrives at your home, they'll check in on the Mobile App, and the App will track their route via GPS while they're walking your dog. All of this information is included in the Service Update you receive after your Walker/Sitter completes their visit.  

*NOTE: You'll also be notified if your Pet used the bathroom, that we've Refilled your pet's water, and that we Locked Up when departing.

We accept all major Credit/Debit cards, and payments are fully automated through your Doug’s Dogs client portal. With the exception of Overnight Sitting, which is billed in advance, your card will be automatically charged at the end of each week of Service. We will forward you an invoice after Standard Services are completed, and your Credit/Debit Card on file will be charged automatically 48 hours after receiving your invoice. In the interim, you can always opt to pay manually. 

*NOTE: We do not have any contracts or minimums and keeping track of every detail is easy in your profile on our Online Portal/Mobile App.

When you pay your invoice, you’ll be given the option of adding a Tip. Simply navigate to the Invoices tab in your Doug’s Dogs client portal for more info: https://www.timetopet.com/portal/dougs-dogs.

Regular walks are recommended!

Establishing a regular schedule for your dog is recommended, and this will be best for their general well-being. A regular schedule also helps us allocate our Walkers and ensures everyone gets walked within their desired time frames. Additionally, a regular schedule provides you with a greater chance you’ll be assigned to the same Walker. 

That said, we are happy to accommodate Clients with occasional or irregular dog walking needs based on our availability. If your schedule changes from week to week, please submit your requests via the Online Portal or Mobile App so your request is not lost in the shuffle, and so we can plan ahead to make sure your pup is covered.

*NOTE: First thing we’ll do is set up a Doug’s Dogs Client account on our Online Portal so you can easily request walks and we can be there when you need us. Contact us to get started!

24 hours!

If you need to cancel a walk or service, please let us know the day before. This gives us time to reallocate the time to a different Client. If you must make a last minute cancellation, please do so by no later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled visit. Cancellations received with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full price of the visit. For Holiday cancellations, we require 48 hours notice, or you will be charged full price of your visit, including the additional Holiday rate.

*NOTE: At our discretion, we may opt to forgo the Cancellation Fee if we can successfully reschedule the Services for a later date.

Individually!

Your dog is our #1 priority! We pride ourselves on offering individualized services for you and your pet. We’re more than happy to walk pups with a buddy or two as long as the they are of similar size, temperament, and have permission from all Pup Parents.

*NOTE: We never “pack walk.”

We know that sometimes you are in a pinch and need help caring for your furry family member, and we’ll always do the best we can to accommodate you. Should you have a last minute request, please try to let us know ASAP so we can do our best to make it happen. Please submit your request via the Online Portal or Mobile App so your request is not lost in the shuffle, and so we can plan ahead to make sure your pup is covered. The more notice you can give, the better. 

*NOTE: If we receive a request for Standard Services with less than 24 hours notice, or a request for Overnight Sitting with less than 72 hours notice, we may add a nominal Late Booking Fee to your invoice.

We confirm via email!

Every request, cancellation, or schedule change is confirmed via email and through our Online Portal/Mobile App. If you send a request outside our regular business hours, we will do our best to confirm ASAP, but no later than the next business day. 

*NOTE: Cancellations, requests, and changes are not confirmed until you receive a confirmation from our office.

We work with the most highly regarded insurance companies in our industry, Pet Sitters Associates and RPS Eau Claire.

Finding truly amazing Pet Care Professionals is no easy task and hiring them is the most important thing we do besides taking great care of our pets. In fact, only a very small percentage of our applicants even make it to the first in-person interview. We only work with candidates who are shining stars when it comes to understanding animals. Applicants are chosen based on professional and personal experience and we always place direct referrals from Staff and Clients to the front of the line. 

*NOTE: All of our Walkers/Sitters submit to a Background Check.

Your pup is your family, and we know how important it is to have someone that you know and trust in your home, caring for your pup.

Each of our Walkers has an assigned geographical neighborhood which consists of a specific set of pups that they see each day. The pups (and their parents) become like family, and we do our best to encourage longevity and limited turnover among our team.

*NOTE: Should your Walker resign or move to another route for any reason, we will notify you as far in advance as possible and give you ample opportunity to meet and get to know your new Walker before they take over.

We've got you covered!

Things happen, and if your regular Walker is unavailable for whatever reason (sick, vacation, emergency at home) we will still have you covered. Our goal is to give you as much notice as we can about coverage (generally at least a few days in advance). You can rest assured knowing that your Backup Walker will be as much of a Pet-loving rockstar as your Primary Walker, and will be used to adapting to all kinds of situations and meeting all sorts of different pups. They will be fully prepped on your pet’s individual personality and routine and will come ready to give them an awesomely customized walk.

On the rare occasion that we receive limited notice, we may notify you that morning that a substitute will be filling in. If you prefer to cancel on days that you have a sub, that’s completely fine.

We know that when young puppies first come home it’s a transition process to begin walking outside (whether it be pre-vaccinations, loud city sounds, or a combination of both). If your puppy is not yet ready to be walked outside with the big dogs, we will come to your home for a 30min Check-In Visit to play and focus on socialization, practice puppy basics, offer tons of positive reinforcement and love, and clean up/replace wee pads.

*NOTE: While this is not official Puppy Training, we can always refer you to wonderful LA-based trainers to get your pup started on basic training. Contact us for more info.

We love cats, too!

Contact us to arrange a 20 minute Cat Visit, where we’ll check on kitty, scoop their litter box, feed them, refresh their water, and spend the remainder of the visit playing and giving them cuddles, pets, and tons of love!

Even pups get sick sometimes! We’re more than happy to administer pills, topical medication, and really anything that doesn’t require a veterinary technician certification. Keep us in the loop and we’ll help however we can.

Please include all specific feeding instructions to us in an email so we can make sure your Walker is notified and we’ve had the chance to add the notes to your pup’s profile.

We require TWO sets of keys:

#1: One set of keys will be kept by your Walker/Sitter
#2: A second emergency backup set will be kept in a Lock Box on your property, which will help us provide the most comprehensive coverage and will also allow for an efficient backup option in case of emergency.

Lock Box Info: 

Clients can either provide their own Lock Box, or we can provide one for a $30 deposit. If you prefer the latter option, we will provide a Master Lock Safe Space Portable Lock Box #5422D. You can choose your own four digit code, and we’d recommend choosing four digits that do not fall in succession, and the digits should not repeat. As always, only our trusted Admin Team and your assigned Sitter/Walkers are given access to your strictly confidential information.

We always recommend choosing a Lock Box location that's somewhat hidden (so not on your doorknob or the railing immediately next your door), but also a location that's not too challenging to access when needed (not in a crawlspace or too far away from your door). 

*NOTE: If your building does not allow Lock Boxes, or if you prefer to not use one, please let us know and we can discuss possible alternatives. Many Clients use electronic locks, which provide the highest level of security and ease for access. 

Absolutely.

We know that you and your dog are inseparable, but what about those days when you just can’t take your furry friend with you? In-home sitting is $75/night (for 1 pup) and includes all normal walks, feedings, medications, overnight care, and more love, playtime, and cuddles than you can imagine! Overnight Sitting includes in-home care starting at your Sitter’s arrival time (determined by you) on the start date and runs through that same time on the end date. For example, if your Sitter arrives at Noon on Friday, and is departing on Sunday, they’d leave at Noon on Sunday. 

*NOTE: If you need to extend your Sitter’s time with your pup on the day of departure, we can always add an additional Walk or Daycare Service.

Some of our Sitters are able to Board pups in their homes, however space and availability is limited so inquire today.

*NOTE: Rates and cancellation for Boarding (in a Sitter’s home) are the same as Overnight Sitting (in your home).

Yes!

Could your pup use a nice workout to exert that extra energy? We have a team of runners who will take your pup for a run and bring them home tired and ready for a snooze. Runs are generally 30-45min depending on your dog’s specific needs and physical ability, and will always include a warm up and cool down.

*NOTE: Submit your request today as running availability is very limited.

We Angelenos love to hike, and so do our pups! We'll take your dog on a 60min hiking adventure (including travel), based on your pup's physical availability, and we'll grab some killer pics to boot. 

*NOTE: Hikes are based on availability and length of hike is based on your proximity to available trails. 

Standard Overnight Sitting Cancellation Policy:

3 or more days notice, full refund – For example, if your Sitting is scheduled to begin at 12PM Friday, your cancellation must be received no later than 12PM Tuesday of the same week for a full refund.
1-3 days notice, 50% refund – For example, if your Sitting is scheduled to begin at 12PM Friday, and you cancel between 12PM Tuesday and 12PM Thursday of the same week, you'll receive a 50% refund.
24 hours or less notice, no refund – For example, if your Sitting is scheduled to begin at 12PM Friday, cancellations received after 12PM on Thursday of the same week will not receive a refund for all or any part of the Sitting.

Holiday Period Overnight Sitting Cancellation Policy:

14 or more days notice, full refund – For example, if your Sitting is scheduled to begin at 12PM Friday, your cancellation must be received no later than 12PM on the Friday two weeks earlier for a full refund.
6-14 days notice, 50% refund – For example, if your Sitting is scheduled to begin at 12PM Friday, and you cancel between 12PM on the Friday two weeks earlier and 12PM on the Saturday prior to the start of Sitting, you'll receive a 50% refund.
Less than 6 days notice, no refund – For example, if your Sitting is scheduled to begin at 12PM Friday, cancellations received after 12PM on the Saturday prior to the start of Sitting will not receive a refund for all or any part of the Sitting.

*NOTE: If the scheduled Sitting is cancelled, your refund will be returned directly to the card used for payment. If Client ends Sitting early for any reason once Sitting has begun, the remaining unused Sitting days/nights are non-refundable.
